A New Start - 2009

Hi
On 31 December 2008 I made a New Year's resolution to change my life. Being 51 years old, I have hated how I looked for about 45 years so this year I decided to finally do something about it. My health was also suffering, I had been to the doctor and my cholesterol level was 6.5 and she wanted me to go on medication.

So this was it, on New Years Day I watched my good friend Kaz compete in a 5km Fun Run on the beach. Watching Kaz jogging along the beach looking so fit, healthy and thin inspired me and I decided to take up jogging. Well what a joke I couldn't run 10 steps, being overweight, a smoker and having a hip replacement meant I just couldn't do it. Instead of being discouraged and heading to the pantry, I decided that before I could jog I would have to loose at least 10kg and give up smoking! What to do first, well I started trying to eat healthier and give up the smokes.

It took me until the 11 June 2009 to convince my husband that we should stop smoking and now almost 5 months later I am a non smoker. Unfortunately I also gained more weight!

On the 31st August 2009, I though enough is enough and realised I couldn't do this alone so I joined Weight Watchers and have now been a member for 10 weeks and have lost 7.6 kg so far.

Along the way I have made some new friends online through the WW site and also at the meeting I have met Kerry and Jen, we joined on the same night and always stay for the meetings together.

Now I have decided to go public with my journey, I haven't ever blogged before and am new to this part of the Internet.

Please join me on my journey!

Jen
